Discover and design how trauma-informed evidence-based mindfulness, yoga on-and-off- the-mat, the creative arts, and creative problem solving support anxiety/stress reduction, and expand focus and cognitive functioning, including increasing academic achievement. Explore and embody theories and practices associated with teaching yoga to youth, parents, and families in formal and informal educational settings including schools, libraries, parks, museums, festivals and beyond. Investigate and innovate the intersections and research on mindfulness, yoga, and creativity; problem solving and related neuroscience; and diversity, inclusion, equity, and diversity.

Teaching Mindfulness and Meditation to Youth and Families

Join Beth Reese (Yoginos, Yoga for Youth) and I for an online teacher training. Learn to bring Mindfulness & Meditation to Youth and Families! Live streams are on February 13th, 20th and 21st 8:00 am-Noon (CST); plus there are 4 hours of recordings.

Participants will learn and practice how to integrate practical mindfulness and meditation tools into Pre-K to 12th grade curricula, the work place and daily life, including how to cultivate calmness, balance and focus amidst most any circumstance.

Explore and embody theories and practices for teaching a range of yoga postures, breathing exercises and mindfulness practices for tweens, teens and the adults who support them. Discover and design specific practices and programs for empowering tweens/teens/adults to cope with common stressors and transitions, such as depression and anxiety including suicide prevention, test anxiety, body image, anti-bullying, pressure from friends and family, career planning and goal setting. Investigate and integrate research-based information and tools on mindfulness, yoga, the changing teenage body and related neuroscience, explicit and implicit bias, inclusion, equity, diversity and race.
